Taj Mahal is situated in Uttar Pradesh.The Taj Mahal is an ivory while marble mausoleum on the south bank of the Yamuna River in the Indian city of the Agra.It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his favorite wife Mumtaj Mahal.The tomb is the centerpiece of a 17-hectare complex, which includes a Mosque and a guest house, and is set in a formal garden bounded on three sides by a crenelated wall.
The Taj  is a designated by the UNESCO world heritage site in 1983 being the jewel of the Muslim art in the India and one of the universally admires the masterpiece of  the world heritage,"Described by the laureate Rabindra Nath Tagore as"the teardrop on the check of the time, It is a regarded by many as the best example of the Mughal architecture and a symbol of the India's rich history.The Taj Mahal attracts the Million visitor over the years.It was declared a winner of the New7wonder of the world initiative.

Tomb

The Tomb is the central focus of the entire complex of the Taj Mahal.It is a large, marble structure standing on a square plinth and consist of a symmetrical build with an iwan topped by the large dome and finial.Like most Mughal tombs, the basic elements are Persians in origin.

The base structure is a large multi-chambered cube with a chamfered corners forming an equal eight-sided structure that is an approximately 55 meters on each of the four long sides .Each side of the Ivan is a framed with a huge pishtaq or vaulted archway with two similarly shaped arched balconies stacked on either side.The motif of the stacked pishtaq is a replicated on the chamfered corner areas, making the design completely symmetrical on all sides of the building.Four mineral frames the tomb.One at each corner of the plinth facing the chamfered corners.The main chamber house the false sarcophagi of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, the actual grave are at a lower level.
